The "Guangdong LED Industry Operation Monitoring Report for the 2nd Quarter of 2013" compiled by the Guangdong Semiconductor Lighting Industry Joint Innovation Center was officially released at the Guangdong LED Industry Development Summit Forum held recently. The report shows that in the first half of 2013, the total output value of LED industry in Guangdong Province was 125.168 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 27.73. Among them, exports were US$316.38 billion, up 18.2% year-on-year; total imports were US$238.03 billion, up 25.5 year-on-year. 3. The number of LED patent applications exceeds 40,000, accounting for one quarter of the country. According to the report, as of the end of June 2013, Guangdong Province had a total of 43,787 patent applications for LEDs, accounting for 26.29 of the total number of LED patent applications in the country, accounting for 3.90 of all patent applications in Guangdong. In the second quarter of 2013, the LED industry prosperity index of Guangdong Province was 125.2, which was significantly higher than the threshold value of 100 booms. From the perspective of corporate profitability, 79.3 companies said that their profitability in the second quarter was flat or better than that of the previous quarter; from the perspective of product sales, 84.6 companies said that product sales in the second quarter were flat or better than last quarter, while 82.9 companies expected the next quarter.
